I’ve never been able to find any decent footage of Dimitri Mitropoulos conducting. This film just appeared on YouTube on Sept 3rd, so I’m guessing I’m not the only one who hasn’t seen it before. I’ve got a lot of friends who played for a lot of legends, but I can’t think of any other conductor whose mind, ear and passion leaves players in such awe 50 years later. It’s tragic there isn’t more documentation of his career.
