However, what really struck me about this post is your description of Mahler&#039;s place in orchestral culture now as opposed to 30-40 years ago. Back then, it was necessary to place Mahler in the context of the compositional world of his time as well as in (the then) current repertoire. Now, Mahler IS the context.</description>
