The OES, 200 miles from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">Portland<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">, 260 miles from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">Seattle<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\"> and 300 miles from <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">Boise<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\"> has long been nicknamed \u201cThe Most Remotely Situated Full Symphony Orchestra on the Planet.\u201d Pendleton is a town of 17,000 that sits at the end of a 65 mile long desert plateau near the feet of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">Blue Mountains<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">. The economy is driven largely by wheat farming and the annual rodeo \u201cPendleton Round-Up.\u201d The Round-Up is one of the four largest\u00a0 rodeo events in the world, and each October the town swells to over 80,000 people for a week as the world\u2019s leading rodeo athelets compete. Pendleton is the county seat of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">Umatilla<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">County<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">, which has the distinction of having one of the lowest per-capita incomes of any county in the continental US.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\">\u00a0So, how does a tiny community in the middle of nowhere, 200 miles from it\u2019s nearest pool of professional musicians, with limited financial resources come to support an orchestra that can tackle one of the longest, largest and most complex works in the repertoire?
