There he became better known as a teacher, editor and writer rather than the fine composer he evidently was. These three works are rooted in the Austro-German tradition with the slightest modern twinge; they make for a pleasing listen with Vogel\u2019s strong and beautiful playing matched by the excellent accompaniments. The Violin Concerto, composed during G\u00e1l\u2019s exile is a particularly fine creation.
