It\u2019s worth hearing for the pleasure and transcendence it offers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Beyond that, I think today we can see that one of the many tragedies of\u00a0<a title=\"World War II\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_War_II\">World War II<\/a> was the extinguishing of this great, unbroken and unequaled line of musical tradition from Bach to<a title=\"Richard Strauss\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Strauss\">Richard Strauss<\/a> and Mahler. Most of the musicians who would have continued that tradition were executed in Auschwitz \u2013\u00a0Krasa, Ullmann, Klein and Haas would have been the next generation.
