Periods of study in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">London<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"> (with Florence Hooton) and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Vienna<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"> (with Andre Navarra) culminated in offers of a principal job in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Scotland<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">, and a co-principal one at English National Opera. He opted for the warmer one in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">London<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">.
