All props to DB- the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Bayreuth<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"> orchestra sounds absolutely first rate. It\u2019s an entirely different standard of playing than the Liceu band, who did sound good. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">Some good controversy brewing already about stagings. I\u2019m preferring the starker, simpler style of this Walkure to the busy Rhinegold in spite of the fur-collared Marilyn Manson coats the gods wear in this one, but James prefers the grand opera approach. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">So far, fatigue, both physical and musical is not an issue for any of us and we\u2019ve only got about 14 hours to go, so we\u2019re in good shape\u2026. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial\">John Tomlinson&#8217;s Wotan (he sounds great, as always) is also wearing\u00a0sunglasses\u00a0(with one dark eye) instead of an eye-patch, but his 70s-ish pilots\u00a0glasses are decidedly less hip than the Oakleys from Rhinegold.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0;float:none;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/kennethwoods.net\/blog1\/2007\/07\/22\/walkure-starting-act-ii\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"box_count\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Act I of Walkure is now done- brother and sister have fallen into each other\u2019s arms in libidinous passion to the words \u201cthis sword that I now hold,\u201d which is definitely in the top 20 best unintentional laugh lines in the Ring.
