{"id":652,"date":"2008-08-06T16:36:26","date_gmt":"2008-08-06T16:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kennethwoods.net\/blog1\/2008\/08\/06\/oregon-east-symphony-2008-9-season\/"},"modified":"2008-08-06T16:59:33","modified_gmt":"2008-08-06T16:59:33","slug":"oregon-east-symphony-2008-9-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kennethwoods.net\/blog1\/2008\/08\/06\/oregon-east-symphony-2008-9-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Oregon East Symphony 2008-9 Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Oregon East Symphony has announced details of our 2008-9 Season, the orchestra\u2019s 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, and is currently in the midst of a busy season ticket campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 465px; height: 719px\" height=\"719\" src=\"http:\/\/kennethwoods.net\/images\/BrochureBack.jpg\" width=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the year to come include the return of cellist Parry Karp for a rare performance of Bloch\u2019s epic Suite for Cello and Orchestra on the season opener. Born in Switzerland, Bloch eventually settled in Oregon, where he became the state\u2019s greatest musical figure. The opening weekend also includes a performance of Tchaikovsky\u2019s barn-burning Fourth Symphony and\u00a0 gala chamber concert with Parry Karp, Suzanne Casey, David Yang and me.<\/p>\n<p>In November our newly appointed Assistant Conductor Bruce Walker conducts the OES and the Oregon East Symphony Preparatory Orchestra in a concert featuring the winners of the annual Young Artist Competition.
