I just want to take a moment to reassure readers that this blog is still in business, despite a recent absence of posts. This year it simply proved impossible to find time to blog during the course of the Rose City International Conductor\u2019s Workshop, and since returning I\u2019ve been more drawn to spending time with family and tidying my library. That\u2019s not to say there are not things on my mind- I have lots to say about my final week at OES Camp and what I\u2019ve learned and gained from 9 years building and working in our youth programs. There\u2019s also a big Haydn post or two to write- after all, I\u2019ve just dealt with a huge pile of his scores over the summer, and there is more to come as I get started on\u00a0a new season in <\/span>Guildford<\/span> come September. I have a lot to say about my dear friend, Michael Steinberg, who taught me so much and who made me laugh more times than any other musicologist. Finally, there\u2019s the workshop, my baby, where each I year I learn so much about my craft and\u00a0about people.\u00a0which was especially interesting and full of surprises this year. It is just that, at this moment, I still don\u2019t feel the words are fresh enough to tackle any of those. In the meantime, I\u2019ve been mixing a bit of DIY with some late programming for the coming season and writing a few dozen well-deserved thank you\u2019s. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the meantime, go to some concerts, eat some barbeque and check in soon, maybe even tomorrow\u2026. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
