It&#8217;s a national disgrace that John McCabe&#8217;s incredible 2nd Violin Concerto awaits its first commercial recording 40 years after it was written. I&#8217;ve been trying to record this work for 10 years with no luck!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"7ugqd-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"7ugqd-0-0\"><span class=\"x1fey0fg\"><span data-offset-key=\"7ugqd-0-0\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/JSUfKm7FCkE<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"ae2r7-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"ae2r7-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"ae2r7-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"57cgb-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"57cgb-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"57cgb-0-0\">Then there are gorgeous masterpieces by Rautavaara and Schwertsik which have been recorded, but which deserve to be played, played and played again.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"fdnt0-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"fdnt0-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"fdnt0-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"1g75n-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"1g75n-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1g75n-0-0\">Then there are the happy tales, such as the <\/span><span class=\" xv78j7m\" spellcheck=\"false\" data-offset-key=\"1g75n-1-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1g75n-1-0\">John Adams<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"1g75n-2-0\"> Violin Concerto, written for my dear, and much missed, friend <\/span><span class=\" xv78j7m\" spellcheck=\"false\" data-offset-key=\"1g75n-3-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1g75n-3-0\">Jorja Fleezanis<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"1g75n-4-0\">, which has become a true repertoire piece in the best sense of the word.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"43p19-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"43p19-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"43p19-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"chcod-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"chcod-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"chcod-0-0\">Nevermind the many not-so-new pieces which could and should be widely heard and loved. It&#8217;s been great to see the emergence of the Korngold Violin Concerto (a work we were once told wasn&#8217;t good enough to be played in CCM orchestra concert!). There are pieces out there such as the <\/span><span class=\" xv78j7m\" spellcheck=\"false\" data-offset-key=\"chcod-1-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"chcod-1-0\">Hans G\u00e1l<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"chcod-2-0\"> Violin Concerto and Concertino, the Weinberg&#8217;s and many others which could be just as rightly beloved.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"44m9r-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"44m9r-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"44m9r-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"ebr0j\" data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-0-0\">Here&#8217;s a <\/span><span class=\" xv78j7m\" spellcheck=\"false\" data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-1-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-1-0\">Spotify<\/span><\/span><span data-offset-key=\"6ni6a-2-0\"> list of a few favourite concertos that I hope you&#8217;ll enjoy getting to know or re-visit.
