Getting there is half the fun

Meeting Steve Thackuk at the train station this afternoon. Steve is a wonderful guitarist and twin brother of one of my best friends from my Cincinnati years, Brad Thackuk (who is a fine conductor). Steve will be soloing on this weekend’s Lancashire Chamber Orchestra Concert.

I’m looking ahead at my calendar for the next few weeks, and wondering what it’s going to be like. It’s always good to be busy, but this is a little crazy.

Steve called from the train station around 3, and I walk down to meet him with the dog- it’s beautiful fall weather. People think of Cardiff’s climate as grim, and it can be, but it’s often glorious and rarely uncomfortable, which for someone raised in the Midwest’s cycles of freezing cold and unbearable humidity and heat, is a big plus.

Tonight is a last night of relative calm before things get going in earnest. Time for a relaxed meal courtesy of Suzanne and a few cold beverages. Will enjoy it while I can…
